Wedding Cards… deux

As promised, here are more cards that work for weddings, anniversaries, sympathy or many other occasions.  These versatile designs add a pop of color and change up the feel from the tone-on-tone cards previously posted.    Note:  I apologize that since the Doily Cards were made the ‘Dear Doily’ set sold out.  Pictured below are two great substitutions.  One, the ‘Beautiful Layers’ thinlits which not only replaces the doily but also works for the  leaves shown on the sympathy card.  Your second option is ”Pearlized Doilies’.   this is economical and can be colored if you like. Both  items will work beautifully.

  • Prepare A2 card base from ‘Petal Pink’ cardstock
  • Using the ‘Stitched Rectangle’ Dies cut one 5 x 3 3/4″ ‘Crumb Cake’  and one 3 3/8 x 4″ ‘Very Vanilla’ piece
    • Layer the ‘Crumb Cake’ piece on the card
  • Emboss the ‘Very Vanilla” piece with the ‘Country Floral’ dynamic embossing folder
    • Layer the vanilla piece to card
  • Either die cut the large doily from the ‘Dear Doily’ dies or the large medallion from the ‘Beautiful Layers’ thinlets
  • Cut a 2″ circle, center and attach behind the doily piece
    • Put a ‘Metallic Pearl’ in the center of the medallion attach to left side of card
  • Cut a 3 x 3/4″ inch strip of ‘Very Vanilla’, stamp sentiment and attatch to lower right edge of vanilla piece.
    • Note:   Right edge of strip was perforated with the stitched rectangle set for a finished look when layered on card

This second card is very similar in technique with minor changes…but gives a totally different feel to the card.

  • Cut an A2 card base from ‘Whisper White’ cardstock
  • Cut a 4 x 5 1/4″ ‘Crumb Cake’ piece and attach to white base
  • Cut a white 4 1/4 x 3 3/4″ inch piece and cut a scallop or other decorative edge on bottom as shown.
  • Emboss with the ‘Tin Tile’ textured embossing folder
    • Wrap and tie a bow around bottom of white piece
    • Glue white layer as shown on picture
  • Either die cut the large doily from the ‘Dear Doily’ dies or the large medallion from the ‘Beautiful Layers’ thinlets
  • Cut a 2″ circle, center and attach behind the doily piece.  This piece is white but can be cut from ‘Crumb Cake’ for a bit more color.
    • Attach a ‘Metallic Pearl’ in the center of the medallion and glue to center of white embossed piece
  • Stamp Sentiment of your choice on bottom of card

Last is a Sympathy Card that can be used for any occasion.  Won’t detail the steps because they are the same as previous cards and you can follow the picture.   Any number of embossing folders and die cuts listed will work.

One key item to point out is the leaf pattern used in the left card.   It is from the ‘Delightfully Detailed’ laser-cut specialty paper.  You get 8 sheets of this paper and it will make 24+ cards, plus strips and 4 12 x 12′ sheets that look fantastic.   I just cut out the piece I wanted and layered it on!  Easy and quick.

Wedding cards

Creating a wedding card is easiest when it is created with a tone-on-tone or neutral color pallet.    Here are some cards to jump start your creativity for a wedding, engagement, anniversary or sympathy card.  Today’s cards will focus on ‘Very Vanilla‘ tone-on-tone cards.  (Come back tomorrow for more cards with an accent color added.)

What I love most about these cards is that the dies and embossing folders do all the work and add richness and texture to the cards. Cut, emboss, paste and a bit of embellishment and you have a beautiful one-of-a-kind card!

This card is made on ‘Very Vanilla‘ Cardstock and triple embossed with two folders.  Here are the steps to make this card:

  • Ready an A2 card base
  • Cut a 4 x 5 1/4″ glitter piece and attach to base
  • Cut a 3 7/8 x 4″ piece of cardstock
    • Using the ‘Be Mine‘ stitched framlits and die cut the hearts shown above
      • Stamp your sentiment on the large stitched piece and set aside
    • Die cut both the top and bottom edge of the piece with the scalloped edge die
  • TIP:  Take the piece with the heart shape cutout and with the ‘Subtle‘ embossing folder emboss once vertically and then again on horizontally.  This creates a wonderful weave-like texture.
    • Take the same piece and emboss a third time with the ‘Country Floral‘ dynamic embossing folder.  This is a free item with a $50 purchcase until March 31.
  •  Layer up all the pieces and pop up the two smallest hearts with ‘Dimensionals.’

The Wedding Wishes card comes together quickly as all pieces are primarily cut from the same ‘Be Mine‘ dies.  Only added Butterflies and you can embellish with whatever you like.  All pieces are cut from ‘Very Vanilla‘ cardstock:

  • Cut an A2 card base
  • Layer with a  4 x 5 1/4″ piece and attached to base
  • Cut  and emboss a 3 3/4 x 5″ piece witht the ‘Subtle‘ embossing folder
  • With the ‘Be Mine” dies, cut hearts as shown above
  • Layer and attach all pieces
  • Add ribbon of your choice and embellish  as desired

This last card is made from the same ‘Very Vanilla‘ cardstock but changed with a color filter to demonstrate how you can vary the color and sentiment.  The ‘Be Mine’ die set  is used again with the ‘Wonderful Floral’ framelits dies.  A sentiment from ‘Dandelion Wishes‘  was stamped on a label from the ‘Stitched Label‘ set.

  • Cut an A2 card base
  • Cut a 4 x 5 1/4″ piece and emboss with the ‘Lace Dynamic‘ textured embossing folder
    • Attatch to card
  • Die cut label and stamp sentiment
    • Attach label to card
  • Die cut leaves and flowers as shown above and layer around edge of label piece.
    • Embellish with gold ‘Metallic Pearls

Would love to see what you create and read any comments or feedback you may have.
